We lost a great in the architectural world last week. Zaha Hadid’s passing has sent ripples of sadness through the South Florida real estate community partly because of her recent activity in Downtown Miami shaping our skyline for the better. Pritzker Prize winning Hadid’s first residential tower, One Thousand Museum, debuted to glowing reviews and press calling it amongst the world’s top 10 billionaire buildings. Her fusion of art and design was legendary and her spirit will live on through the global projects that made up her illustrious professional portfolio. The 62 story building with 83 residences is slated for a 2018 completion.
She was a friend to our firm and a female powerhouse in a male dominated industry. We paid tribute to her legacy on Wednesday in a moment of silence at the construction zone on Biscayne timed to sync with her funeral services in London that morning. I encourage you to drive by and see the banners memorializing her. I send my heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. Find a full recap of our tribute in The Real Deal and reach out for any information.
